Video Remote Interpreting, or VRI,
uses Videoconferencing, VideoPhone or Web-based Video technologies, to access sign
language interpreting services without an interpreter on site. SignOn can provide this service to customers in the US and Canada.
SignOn is a technology leader in offering VRI, using traditional
Videoconferencing techniques, or our exclusive Web-based Video technology.
With the new SignOn VRI Web Video technology, there are no technical firewall
issues to deal with. A SignOn customer will only need a laptop computer, webcam and broadband connection to initiate an Interpreting session.
Video Remote Interpreting can be used in situations such as staff meetings,
doctor visits, conferences, or training sessions. Instead of having an interpreter physically present with the deaf and hearing parties, the interpreter is located at SignOn’s offices and facilitates communicating remotely via the live 2-way video link. This method saves the cost of mileage, travel time, and two-hour minimums for in-person interpreting sessions.
VRI interpretation may be arranged in advance, or requested on-demand. Different charges and minimums apply.
